"Stand by Me" foi unha canción interpretada por Ben E. King e composta xunto a Jerry Leiber e Mike Stoller. A canción foi adaptada a partir dun tema gospel de 1955 interpretado por The Staples Singers, otorgando á canción un sonido máis contemporáneo. Dende a súa publicación, foi versionada por moitos músicos, pero ningunha das versións acadou a fama da orixinal.
Durante a composición, Ben E. King non tiña intención de grabala, xa que o tema era para The Drifters, pero non o quixeron. Pasadas as sesións de grabación do "Spanish Harlem", o productor preguntoulle a King por novo material e King tocóu "Stand By Me" no piano. Ao productor gustoulle e chamou a músicos de sesión para grabar o tema. O baixo é a firma desta canción.
"Stand by Me" está no posto 121 da lista das 500 millores cancións de tódolos tempos, da revista musical Rolling Stone. BMI nomeou o tema como o cuarto mais interpretado durante el siglo XX, con mais de sete millóns de interpretacións.
